Background
The five daily prayers
Prayer (Salah, Namaz) is one of the five pillars of Islam. Its times follow the position of the sun, which is why they change every day and differ from place to place.
Fajr الفجر
The dawn prayer begins with the first light of dawn and ends at sunrise.
Dhuhr الظهر
The midday prayer begins shortly after the sun has passed its highest point.
Asr العصر
The afternoon prayer begins when an object's shadow reaches a defined length.
Maghrib المغرب
The evening prayer begins right after sunset.
Isha العشاء
The night prayer begins once the evening twilight has completely disappeared.
namazvakti.de calculates these times using the Diyanet method: Fajr at 18° and Isha at 17° below the horizon, including the customary safety margins (temkin).
